Spotlight: Brett Perrier on Strategic Commercial Development in Chalmette

Brett Perrier, Principal and Director of Pre-Construction at Perrier Esquerre Contractors, LLC, recently sat down with us to discuss a series of commercial developments his team is spearheading in Chalmette, a growing suburb of New Orleans located in St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana. The parish has experienced remarkable growth in recent years, attracting attention across a range of industries.

Perrier, along with a small group of partners—including another contractor, two real estate agents, and a silent investor—formed an investment group to capitalize on the area’s momentum. Their first of three projects was completed in 2023: Chalmette Shopping Center, a 7,500 SF, multi-tenant commercial property strategically located near Walmart and Ochsner Health Center. The center’s tenants include AT&T, LCMC Health Urgent Care, Wingstop, and Subway—brands selected to serve the area’s increasing traffic and demand.

The team’s second project, a new 7 Brew Coffee location at 8111 W. Judge Perez Drive, officially opened its doors on Monday, January 13, 2025.

The third project, currently in development, will be an 8,000 SF multi-tenant commercial space designed to accommodate three to four tenants. While tenant details are still under wraps, Perrier notes exceptionally strong interest from potential occupants. This enthusiasm reflects broader excitement surrounding infrastructure improvements in the area, including the Chalmette Slip Rehabilitation Project, which aims to restore maritime operations, enhance cargo capacity, and drive regional economic growth.

Perrier shared his optimism about the group's ongoing partnership with St. Bernard Parish and hinted at plans for future developments in the area. “We’re just getting started,” he said. “There’s a lot of opportunity here.”
